The research sponsored and conducted by the Heffter Research Institute is of the highest quality, carried out under the direction of world-class scientists, and published in well respected peer-reviewed scientific journals. Although the Institute's program will qualify for and receive some government funding, it will not depend on such funds to maintain its operations, and hence will not be obliged to support or defend a particular agenda.
The Institute collaborates with medical schools and other research institutions to implement specific types of research and to minimize operating costs. Affiliating the Institute with universities and medical schools fosters collaborative relationships between scientists funded by HRI and their colleagues.
Looking to the future, the Founders are intent on careful planning, developing collaborative opportunities, and managing growth commensurate with available resources. Meeting this goal will require infusing the Institute with a significant amount of capital funds and establishing a substantial endowment.
